La Trobe University Regional Unisports Scholarships

To provide practical support for student athletes studying at a La Trobe University Regional campus, La Trobe Uni Sports, in 2009 established the Regional Sports Scholarship Program.  The aim of the program is to facilitate students to represent La Trobe University at Australian University Sport events, those being, Australian University Games (AUG), Australian University Championships and World University Games.  The Sports Scholarship program is just a small step in assisting students in Regional areas access funds to participate at an elite level whilst maintaining a focus on their studies.
Since its introduction in 2009 we have seen many of our recipients being selected into the Green and Gold Team (All Australian University Representative) whilst competing at the Australian University Games: Women’s Australian Rules Football, Judo, Orienteering (WUG), Baseball and Netball to list a few.  These Scholarship recipients are some of La Trobe’s high performing sports men and women and the program has provided them the pathway to competing in elite University competition.
All scholarship recipients will become La Trobe University Sports Ambassadors for a period of one year and after an induction process, recipients will become involved in various events aimed at promoting sports and Australian University Sport at regional campuses and facilitating students to participate in AUS events.  Recipients will be required to adhere to the sporting code of conduct as role models and leaders.
Those students eligible to apply must meet the criteria below:
•           Currently enrolled full time or part time students who are studying towards a diploma, degree or post graduate at La Trobe University;
•           Studying at a La Trobe Regional Campus – Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura, Albury- Wodonga;
•           Permanent residents of Australia;
•           Currently competing at a national or state league competition (an equivalent level depending upon sport and location).
Each recipient will receive $1,000 to contribute to the cost of participation in AUS and WUG during this period.
